Everyone feels down now and then. You know, that sinking, low energy feeling, where everything seems like a mountain? Sometimes it goes away. Sometimes you can just push through. Sometimes things change unexpectedly for the better.
And then there are times when you know you could use some help. You feel like it’s not getting better or you worry that it’s getting worse. You try to crawl out but the sides are too steep.
Depression colors our thoughts and beliefs. It affects the way we reason, and our ability to find pleasure in what we used to enjoy. We notice the things that are wrong more than the things that are right. It starts to make perfect sense to feel sad and hopeless. Our world becomes small and uncomfortable. Our relationships suffer. Our performance suffers. Help feels far away.
Every week I talk with people like you about experiences like this.

That’s exactly what depression is like – “pushing through.” Pushing through the day, an event, a conversation you’d rather not be having. And depression is tiring because it’s hard work to keep “pushing through” when you know you have to.

I think I need a place like this by me… I should open up those yellow pages. It is a scary thought to even think about “talking” to some stranger about what I’m going through:( Maybe I should start my own blow instead of reading them. It has been somewhat helpful. I shall read on and see what I find here at the other 167 Hours,
